Repeating the Name of Allah in His rememberance for a certain number of times is called 'TASBIH'.

In reciting the 'tasbih' we use a string of beads which is also called 'TASBIH'. We use the 'tasbih' (string of beads) to make the counting of the recitation easy. Sometimes we recite a 'tasbih' 33 times and sometimes 99 times.

Some of the 'tasbihs' we generally recite are:

(1) YA Ali, YA Ali', it means  'O Ali, O Ali'.

(2) YA Ali, YA Muhammad,
YA Muhammad, YA Ali', it means
'O Ali, O Muhammad, O Muhammad, O Ali'.

(3) 'Allahumma sali ala Muhammadin wa ale Muhammad',
it means    'O Allah! shower Thy blessings through Muhammad and his progeny (i.e. the Holy Imams)'.

(4) YA Raheman, YA Rahim', it means  'O Beneficent, O Merciful'.

(5) YA Ali tun rehem kar, YA Mowla tun fazal kar', it means
'O Ali! have mercy on us, O Lord! bestow your favours on us'.

(6) 'Astagfirullah Rabbi wa a'tubo ilayhi', it means  'I seek forgiveness of Allah my Sustainer and I turn to Him in repentance'.
