Mowlana Hazar Imam was born in Geneva (Switzerland) on 13th December, 1936. Every year on 13th December we celebrate His birthday. This occasion is known as SALGREH, which means, 'birthday'.

This also is a day of great rejoicing and happiness for the Ismailis all over the world.

We have Khushiyali in Jamatkhana. We offer prayers of  thanksgiving because we are under the care of a Present and Living Imam. We wish each other SALGREH MUBARAK. We also play Dandiya Raas and have other programmes. Salgreh reminds us once again that:

1. There is always a Present and Living Imam.
2. We Ismailis are always under the loving care of Present and Living Imam.
3. Mowlana Hazar Imam guides us from time to time by giving us his Farmans.
4. As Mowlana Hazar Imam's spiritual children we must obey and follow His Farmans.

Mowlana Hazar Imam wants a special birthday gift from his spiritual children. He says:

"What can a Jamat give to Imam on his birthday and what would really make him happy Jamat can give me one happiness, that is that they should be united, that they should be regular in all Jamat work and that they should live in the best tradition of my spiritual children".(Dacca, 9.12.1964).

Each day and every day we must live unitedly as brothers and sisters, be regular in all our religious duties and serve the Jamat and live as good spiritual children of Hazar Imam. This will be the birthday gift we will offer to Mowlana Hazar Imam and this will make him most happy.
