Prophet Muhammad took great pains to guide people to the Right Path. In his mission, he suffered severe persecution at the hands of his enemies, but he continued to preach the message of Allah and never, for once, thought of giving up his work. Those who accepted Islam felt happy at giving up idol worship, their old beliefs and superstitions and their evil ways of life. They were greatly indebted to the Prophet for his guidance and were always considering the ways in which to repay him. They could not think of any appropriate way to repay the Prophet for his guidance, his love, care and concern for them and so they went to him and said:
"O Messenger of Allah! We were on the wrong path and Allah guided us through you. We were poor and we prospered by your blessings. For this reason, you may ask of anything you desire from our belongings and we shall give it to you."
At this, Allah gave a revelation to Prophet Muhammad which said:
"Say ( O Muhammad ): No reward do I ask (for my favours) except your love for my kith and kin." -Sura 42, Ayat 23.
Kith and Kin of the Prophet are Hazrat Ali, Hazrat Bibi Fatima, Hazrat Hasan, Hazrat Imam Husayn and the Imams. Love for the Imam is therefore a very important matter in Islam.
We must have true and sincere love in our hearts for Hazar Imam, because it is only then that we shall be able to follow his Farmans and remain on the Right Path - Siratal Mustaqim.
